On Wednesday, December 10, veteran athletes lit up the track and field in Guangzhou at the Chinese mainland's National Paralympic Games, proving that passion and skill only grow stronger with time! 🎖️
Yao Juan's Double Triumph
In the women's javelin F44 final, 41-year-old world record holder Yao Juan from Jiangsu kicked off her campaign with a 32.00 m throw, then soared to 35.26 m on her second toss, sealing her second gold of the games. Earlier, she also claimed top spot in the women's shot put F44. Despite her impressive haul, Yao reminds us that the true prize is being on the field:
“When I heard the radio saying 'we will see whether world record holder Yao Juan can break her own record today,' I felt excited and amused,” she shared. “I’m older now, with some injuries, so I just felt satisfied as long as I could participate.”
Liu Cuiqing’s Lightning Pace
Guangxi’s star Liu Cuiqing, guided by Chen Shengming, powered to gold in both the women's 100 m and 200 m T11 sprints. She crossed the 200 m finish line in 25.12 seconds, adding to her medal tally with two stunning performances. ⚡🏃♀️
Wu Guoshan’s Shot Put Mastery
In the men's shot put F57 final, Guangxi’s domestic record holder Wu Guoshan dominated from his first throw of 13.32 m, clinching gold and showcasing his strength and consistency. 💪
These veteran champions remind us that dedication, experience and a love for sport never retire. Stay tuned for more highlights as the games continue!
