With just one month to go until the 15th National Games, a cool twist heated up Guangzhou this Thursday: the flame lighting ceremony! 🚀🔥
The ‘source flame’ came straight from combustible ice harvested 1,500 meters below the South China Sea. After a high-seas adventure aboard the research vessel Ocean Geology 2, following the Maritime Silk Road to the Haima Cold Seep area, the torch finally arrived on shore in Guangzhou in the Chinese mainland. Talk about an epic journey! ⛴️✨
Now, the torch embarks on a whirlwind tour across the Greater Bay Area. In November, relay teams will race through Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the two special administrative regions (SARs) of Hong Kong and Macao, passing the flame hand to hand ahead of the Games.
The main event kicks off November 9–21, while the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games run from December 8–15. From underwater ice to stadium lights, these Games are ready to inspire a new generation of athletes. Let the countdown begin! 🎉🏅
