Italian Star Sinner Serves Up 21st Title in Beijing 🎾🏆
This week at the China Open, Italy’s Jannik Sinner lived up to his top-two billing, sweeping past 19-year-old Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in a high-octane final at the National Tennis Center.
Sinner came out firing 🔥 in the first set, forcing Tien’s backhand long before unleashing a crushing overhead smash 💥 to break serve and build a 4-1 lead. An ace sealed the frame, and the Italian took set one 6-2.
The American teen, chasing the title of youngest U.S. champion on Tour since Andy Roddick in 2002, battled back with two break-point chances in set two. But Sinner held firm 💪, using a wide serve to close the match 6-2.
By lifting his third trophy of the year and 21st Tour-level crown, Sinner joined Novak Djokovic as the only players with multiple singles titles at this ATP 500 event. 🚀 It’s also the first time since 2020 that the top two players in the rankings both lifted trophies in the same week—back then it was Djokovic and Rafael Nadal!
Next up: Sinner heads to the Shanghai Masters, while Carlos Alcaraz plans some downtime to recharge after his Japan Open success. 🌏✈️
