Sinner, Swiatek Cruise into US Open Round 3 🎾

Flushing Meadows was buzzing on Thursday as Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek stamped their tickets to the US Open third round 🎟️🔥.

World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner 🇮🇹 continued his hard-court dominance with a straight-sets victory over Australia’s Alexei Popyrin, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. At just 24, Sinner is chasing history—no man has defended the men’s singles title since Roger Federer in 2008.

Thanks to a smart drop shot in set two and a clutch forehand break in the third, Sinner kept his momentum rolling and sealed the final set 6-2 with an ace. With wins at the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025 and last year’s US Open, he’s on a 23-match winning streak at hard-court majors. By leveling his head-to-head with Popyrin 1-1, he also keeps his World No. 1 dreams alive. Next up: Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

"Today, I felt we both didn't serve great, but I was returning very well, especially on second serve. So I'm very happy about today. I'm aiming to improve my serve, but honestly, the rest felt quite comfortable," Sinner said post-match.

Over on the women’s side, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek also advanced to the third round with a confident performance, proving she’s a force to be reckoned with in New York 🗽✨.

Stay tuned as the action heats up and these champs chase more glory! 🌟
