Wang Xinyu Cruises into US Open 2nd Round for Third Straight Year

🎾 The Chinese mainland's rising star Wang Xinyu shrugged off a slow start to edge past home favorite Caroline Dolehide 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday. She’s into the second round at the US Open women's singles for a third straight year!

After dropping the first set 6-2, Wang found her rhythm in set two. She survived an early break point and held serve through to a decisive break in game nine, then closed it out 6-4. Talk about a comeback! 🚀

In the decider, world No. 34 Wang struck fast, breaking in the third game and rattling off five games in a row to build a 5-1 lead. Dolehide fought off a match point, but Wang held serve to seal a 6-2 finish.

On the men's side, the Chinese mainland's World No. 74 Buyunchaokete fell to French wildcard Valentin Royer 6-1, 6-4, 7-6. Buyunchaokete battled back to a tiebreak in the third set but dropped seven straight points after taking the first. He’s still chasing that first Grand Slam main-draw win after five attempts.
