2025 World Games Close with Spectacular Ceremony in Chengdu

After 12 epic days in Chengdu, the 2025 World Games wrapped up under the slogan "Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders" 🎉. Nearly 4,000 athletes from over 110 countries and regions competed across 34 sports, 60 disciplines, and 256 events, making this the biggest and most inclusive edition yet.

Record-setting performances were everywhere: 83 delegations reached the podium for the first time in World Games history! China topped the medal table with 36 gold, 17 silver, and 11 bronze, followed by Germany (17-14-14) and Ukraine (16-14-14).

As the first host on the Chinese mainland, the nation fielded its largest-ever team—489 members, including 321 athletes across 28 sports. For the first time, 12 new disciplines like floorball and powerboating joined the lineup, and para athletes proudly took part side by side with other competitors.

The Closing Ceremony was a festival of highlights and hope. A chorus of children sang "Auld Lang Syne" as the main flame at Qinhuang Lake dimmed on a giant screen, closing one chapter and lighting the way for the next.

Fans can start their countdown! The 2029 World Games head to Karlsruhe, Germany, marking the city’s second time as host since 1989. Get ready for another round of passion, unity, and unforgettable moments 🌟.
