Chinese Mainland Aerials Team Finishes Sixth at FIS Worlds

In a nail-biting showdown in Switzerland, the Chinese mainland's mixed team aerials finished sixth at the FIS World Championships. Although the team showed early promise, the high-pressure event kept fans on the edge of their seats. 😱

The squad, featuring veterans Qi Guangpu, Xu Mengtao, and Wang Xindi, faced stiff competition as seven teams vied for four coveted final spots. Xu, the reigning Olympic champion, opened the scoring with a jump that earned him 59.61 points, while Wang tackled a technically challenging routine scoring 94.69 points. Anchoring the team, Qi delivered a polished final jump with an impressive 119.03 points, but the overall score wasn\'t enough to secure a place in the finals.

According to Qi, "Today's competition venue is very close to next year\'s Winter Olympics site, so this serves as a preview for us to acclimatize to the conditions at the Milan Winter Olympics venue. Most domestic ski resorts are extremely cold, with snow textures closer to ice, but the snow here resembles mud. That means we\'ll need some time to experience and adapt to these differences," he explained.

The event was a fierce battle as the U.S. team clinched gold with a dominant performance, racking up a total of 344.63 points, while Ukraine and Switzerland rounded out the podium. Despite the setback, this result provides valuable lessons for the Chinese mainland team as they prepare for the Milan Winter Olympics. Young sports enthusiasts and aspiring athletes will undoubtedly be watching closely as these challenges shape future performances. ❄️🏂
