Exciting news for motorsport fans! Cadillac, backed by General Motors (GM), has been confirmed as Formula One’s 11th team starting in 2026. This new entry follows the approval from Formula One and the FIA after previous plans under a different name didn’t make the cut.
Formula One chief executive Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "The commitment by General Motors to bring a Cadillac team to Formula One was an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport."
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem also highlighted the significance of this move, calling it a "transformative moment" for the championship and praising Cadillac for aligning with the new FIA 2026 regulations.
With Formula One entering a new engine era in 2026, Cadillac has a temporary deal to use Ferrari engines until GM can produce their own. They’ve appointed Graeme Lowdon to lead the team and have set up their European headquarters at Silverstone, the heart of F1 racing.
Lowdon shared his excitement, stating, "We're in a significantly better position now that we're a fully-fledged F1 team. We will have access to all the data and information that all the other teams have. Now we can really push to come up with the most competitive car that we can." He also mentioned that the team will hire drivers based on merit, with the possibility of an American driver, which fans are sure to love.
Get ready for a thrilling new chapter in Formula One as Cadillac gears up to race on the global stage! 🏎️✨
