China captured one gold and one bronze medal at the final day of the ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Tour in Milan on Sunday, marking a strong finish in the competition. 🏅❄️
In the men's 5,000-meter relay, China's team of Sun Long, Liu Shaolin, Liu Shaoang, and Liu Guanyi were in the top three for most of the race. Unfortunately, a late fall by Liu Guanyi cost them a medal. Italy surged ahead to win gold, Canada took silver, and Kazakhstan earned bronze.
Earlier, in the men's 1,000-meter final, Liu Shaoang and Sun Long finished fourth and fifth respectively. Canada's William Dandjinou dominated the race to grab gold, followed by Italy's Pietro Sighel and South Korea's Jang Sung-woo.
In the women's 1,500-meter final, Belgium's Hanne Desmet and Italy's Arianna Fontana outpaced two American skaters, with Desmet taking gold, Kristen Santos of the USA securing silver, and Fontana earning bronze. China's Yang Jingru placed seventh.
This event served as a key test for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, and despite the absence of Lin Xiaojun due to injury, China fielded nearly all their top skaters. Notably, Sun Long had earlier won gold in the men's 500-meter event, and China's women clinched bronze in the 3,000-meter relay.
