Croatia's track and field Paralympic team is all set to shine at the Paris Games! With a mix of seasoned champs and rising stars, they're aiming to bring home a treasure trove of medals. 🏅
Among them is Ivan Katanusic, a leading light in Croatian Paralympic sports. When the 33-year-old steps into the throwing circle, the discus becomes both his friend and foe.
\"When I have the discus in my hand, I see him as an enemy, so I just throw far,\" Katanusic shares with a grin.
Katanusic clinched a silver medal in discus at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and has snagged multiple medals at the World Para Athletics and European Championships. For this year's Olympic Games, he's confident that Croatia's blend of experience and new talent is their secret weapon.
\"I hope we, as Paralympians, can win a minimum of seven medals,\" he says optimistically.
Born with a limb deficiency, Katanusic had his leg amputated shortly after birth and was walking with a prosthesis by just 13 months old! He even competed alongside non-disabled athletes growing up.
\"I have to thank my mother and my father because they never looked at me as a disabled person,\" Katanusic reflects.
With such determination and spirit, the Croatian team is ready to take on the world. Let's cheer them on as they reach for gold! 🥇🇭🇷
