'I Had a Good Life' – Sven-Goran Eriksson's Emotional Farewell
Legendary football coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, 76, shared an emotional message with the world on Wednesday via Prime Video.
Battling terminal pancreatic cancer, Eriksson revealed in January that he had \"at best a year to live.\" In his heartfelt message, he reflected on his journey: \"Life is also about death; you have to learn to accept it. Hopefully, in the end, people will say, 'Yes, he was a good man,' but not everyone will say that. I had a good life.\"
He encouraged fans and friends alike: \"Don't have regrets. Smile. Thank you to all the coaches, players, and fans. It's been fantastic. Take care of yourselves and your lives. And live it! Goodbye.\"
Eriksson's coaching career began in 1977, and he's since managed numerous clubs and national teams. Notably, he led Italian powerhouse Lazio to a Serie A title in the 1998-99 season and was named Serie A Coach of the Year following the 1999-2000 campaign.
As the manager of England's national team from 2001 to 2006, Eriksson guided the Three Lions to the quarterfinals in both the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, as well as Euro 2004.
Between 2013 and 2017, he brought his expertise to the Chinese Super League, coaching Guangzhou City (then Guangzhou R&F), Shanghai Port (then Shanghai SIPG), and Shenzhen.
Eriksson's impact on football has been immense, and his words serve as a powerful reminder to embrace life fully. Thank you, Sven, for the memories and the inspiration. 🙏⚽
