On Sunday, December 7, 2025, Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir visited frontlines in Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya in Gaza and announced that the so-called 'yellow line' is now Gaza Strip’s new borderline 🟡.
The 'yellow line' refers to the zone where Israeli troops have maintained control as part of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025. “It serves as a forward defensive line for our communities and an operational boundary,” Zamir said during his visit with division commanders.
According to Zamir, Israeli forces now hold operational control over extensive parts of the enclave and plan to remain there to prevent Hamas from reorganizing. He emphasized preparations for “surprise attack scenarios” in the military’s upcoming multi-year plan ⚔️.
One key mission, Zamir added, is to bring home the last deceased hostage, Ran Gvili, a police officer whose body remains in Gaza. All 20 living hostages and 27 other bodies have been returned, he noted.
Since October 11, more than 370 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire along this new frontline, raising the Gaza Strip’s death toll to 70,360 since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in October 2023, according to Gaza’s health authorities.
As this 'yellow line' reshapes Gaza’s ground reality, residents and observers alike are watching closely to see how this new frontier will affect life in the enclave and the broader dynamics of the conflict.
