China & Cambodia Rally for Open Global Trade

China and Cambodia have delivered a powerful message against trade protectionism on Friday. In a joint statement following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to an open, rules-based multilateral trading system organized around the World Trade Organization (WTO). 🚀

The statement underscored a vision for an all-weather community with a shared future in the new era, emphasizing the value of a predictable, transparent, and inclusive trade framework. Both sides warned that restrictive trade and investment measures pose serious risks to economic security and global stability.

Highlighting the WTO’s crucial role, the two countries vowed to safeguard the rights and interests of all WTO members and to push for practical outcomes at the upcoming 14th ministerial conference. Their call to action aims at driving economic globalization in a more balanced, win-win direction.

On regional security, China and Cambodia stressed the importance of peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific. They cautioned against the emergence of exclusive alliances and measures that could spark an arms race, urging a focus on cooperative strategies instead. 🤝

This renewed commitment is not only a stand against protectionism but also a beacon for a fair and dynamic global trade environment, resonating with a generation that values transparency and unity in a rapidly changing world.
