China Urges US for Peaceful Coexistence and Partnership

The Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, delivered a powerful message at the 2025 Duke-UNC China Leadership Summit: China and the U.S., as major global powers, have an obligation to achieve long-term peaceful coexistence on this planet. 🌏🤝

\"If we see each other as rivals and engage in a race to the bottom, neither of us would be a winner, and the world would suffer. But if we choose to be partners and help each other succeed, we can all prosper together,\" Xie emphasized, highlighting the importance of collaboration over competition.

He stressed the need for the U.S. to earnestly abide by the one-China principle, properly handle the Taiwan question in line with the three China-U.S. Joint Communiqués, and resist any attempts to expand Taiwan's international presence. 📉🇨🇳🇺🇸

\"Trying to use Taiwan to contain China would only invite trouble for itself,\" Xie added, cautioning against actions that could escalate tensions.

On economic fronts, Xie pointed out that bilateral trade between China and the U.S. surpassed $680 billion last year, with approximately 73,000 American companies investing in China. He warned that any efforts to decouple or disrupt supply chains would deal a heavy blow to both economies. 🏭💸

Highlighting ongoing cooperation, Xie mentioned that China was the first country to officially schedule fentanyl-related substances as a controlled category in 2019. He praised the progress in China-U.S. counternarcotics efforts and warned against using issues like fentanyl as a pretext for trade wars. 🚫💊

Facing emerging global challenges, Xie urged both nations to uphold peace, development, and cooperation, rejecting hegemonism, unilateralism, and protectionism. Let’s work together for a better future! 🌟🌐
