In a series of alarming events, several of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet and administration picks have been hit with bomb threats and swatting incidents 🚔.
\"Last night and this morning, several of President Trump's Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in violent, un-American threats to their lives and those who live with them,\" said Trump transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt in a statement.
Leavitt noted that the attacks ranged from bomb threats to 'swatting'—a dangerous prank where someone falsely reports an emergency to law enforcement, aiming to trigger a massive, heavily armed response at an innocent person's location.
Law enforcement acted swiftly to ensure everyone's safety, according to the statement posted on X.
Among those targeted were Susie Wiles, Trump's incoming White House chief of staff; Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general and Trump's pick for U.S. attorney general; Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, nominated as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations; Howard Lutnick, slated for secretary of commerce; and Brooke Rollins, Trump's choice for secretary of agriculture, as reported by CBS News.
A White House spokesperson stated that President Joe Biden has been briefed about the threats. \"The president and the administration unequivocally condemn threats of political violence,\" the spokesperson said.
These threats come just months after Trump was wounded in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania in July. In September, another man was charged with attempted assassination after allegedly positioning himself with a rifle outside one of Trump's Florida golf courses.
Such incidents highlight the heightened tensions in U.S. politics 🇺🇸. Stay tuned for updates as the story develops.
