🌏 At the 19th East Asia Summit in Vientiane, Laos, Chinese Premier Li Qiang unveiled a three-point proposal aiming to shape a brighter future for East Asia and the world.
In a world that's feeling a bit topsy-turvy lately, with economic recovery dragging its feet, Premier Li stepped up to the mic to share China's vision for peace, prosperity, and cooperation in the region.
Here's the gist of his plan:
1️⃣ Uphold Peace and Tranquility: Li emphasized the importance of sticking together, supporting an open and inclusive regional architecture centered around ASEAN, and managing security through teamwork and shared benefits.
2️⃣ Pursue Mutual Benefit and Win-Win Results: He highlighted the need to tap into each other's strengths, invest in green transformation and the digital economy, and ensure everyone gets a fair slice of the development pie.
3️⃣ Promote Opening Up and Cooperation: Li called for the full implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), speeding up the creation of the Asia-Pacific Free Trade Area, and keeping economic issues from getting tangled up in politics.
Li also reminded everyone that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and stressed that these principles are still super relevant today. 🕊️
When it comes to the South China Sea, Li reassured that China is all about respecting international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. He mentioned China's ongoing efforts with ASEAN countries to finalize the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, aiming for smooth sailing ahead.
The message was clear: By working together, East Asian nations can navigate these choppy waters and steer toward a future filled with peace, stability, and shared prosperity. 🌟
