Chinese Envoy Emphasizes Binding UN Resolutions Amid Gaza Crisis

Hey amigos! 🌍 Let's talk about something super important happening on the global stage. At a recent UN Security Council briefing on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, China's permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, had some strong words to share.

He reminded everyone that UN Security Council resolutions are binding for all states—as per the UN Charter—and there's no room for twisting or ignoring them. 📜

Fu Cong highlighted how the Gaza conflict and tensions in the Middle East have been a top priority for the Council since October last year. But despite their efforts, things haven't gotten better; in fact, they've worsened. 😢

\"We can't ignore how the Council is being sidelined,\" he emphasized.

Fu pointed out that while most members agree on the Palestine-Israel issue, action has been stalled. He recalled how, after repeated vetoes on calls for an immediate ceasefire, the U.S. proposed a ceasefire initiative last May, saying Israel had accepted it and asking for the Council's support through diplomacy.

But over the past five months, these \"so-called diplomatic efforts\" haven't led to peace. Instead, they've resulted in more civilian casualties and risky military moves. 🕊️💔

Fu Cong urged everyone to re-examine the current deadlock and reaffirm some basic principles. He stressed that international humanitarian law isn't negotiable and shouldn't be used as a bargaining chip. The rules of international law apply to all countries equally—no double standards! ⚖️

\"We can't lose faith in genuine diplomacy,\" the envoy said. He called on the concerned country to prioritize saving lives, show political will, take an unbiased stance, abandon political games, and use all their influence to help resolve the conflict. 🤝

\"Meanwhile, we support the Council in using every tool it has to end the war and restore peace as soon as possible,\" he added.

Let's hope that these words lead to real action and that peace comes soon to those affected by this crisis. ✨
