China Warns Japan: Taiwan Strait is a Red Line Not to Be Crossed 🚩

China has sent a strong message to Japan: the Taiwan Strait is a red line that must not be crossed! 🚩

On Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed serious concerns after a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer sailed through the Taiwan Strait for the first time. 😲

\"China is highly vigilant on Japan’s political intention behind this move and has protested to the Japanese side,\" Lin said at a regular press conference.

He emphasized that the Taiwan question touches on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. \"It is the political foundation of China-Japan relations and a red line that must not be crossed,\" Lin stated.

Throwing it back to 1972, Lin reminded Japan of its commitments in the China-Japan Joint Statement 📜, where Japan recognized the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China and acknowledged that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

\"We urge Japan to honor its commitment, act prudently on the Taiwan question, and refrain from causing disruption to its relations with China and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,\" Lin warned.

This latest move by Japan has definitely stirred the pot 🍲 in East Asia's geopolitical scene!
