On Wednesday, Macao's Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election announced that Sam Hou Fai is the only accepted candidate for the upcoming chief executive election. 🗳️
The commission completed its eligibility review of Sam's application—the sole one received for the position—on Tuesday. The Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) assessed and affirmed his candidacy, highlighting his sincere support for the Macao SAR Basic Law and his loyalty to the People's Republic of China and its Macao SAR. 🇲🇴🇨🇳
A whopping 386 members of the Chief Executive Election Committee have nominated Sam, which was detailed in the commission's notice. That's some serious support! 🙌
But hold on, the process isn't over just yet. According to Macao SAR's Chief Executive Election Law, nominated candidates and members of the election committee can lodge appeals within one day of the notice.
