China and Russia Boost Strategic Ties Ahead of BRICS Summit

In a move that's shaking up the global scene 🌐, China and Russia are taking their partnership to the next level! Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, met with Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, on Tuesday in St. Petersburg. The two big players agreed to amp up their strategic communication and cooperation. 🤝

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that despite the whirlwind changes happening around the world, the strong bond between China and Russia remains rock solid. \"This year marks the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic ties,\" Wang said. \"We've been keeping the vibes positive, maintaining exchanges at all levels, and implementing the important agreements made by our leaders. He added that China is all in for boosting strategic communication with Russia. The plan? To fully utilize mechanisms like the China-Russia strategic security consultation and the BRICS Meeting of High Representatives on National Security. Russia's Shoigu was equally enthusiastic. He highlighted the high-level exchanges and fruitful cooperation that underscore the strong strategic cooperation between the two countries. He thanked China for its support as Russia takes on the role of BRICS rotating chair and expressed eagerness to ensure the upcoming BRICS leaders' summit in Kazan is a hit. 🎉

Both sides also pledged to advocate for true multilateralism. The Russian side showed support for China's upcoming role as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), aiming to make the SCO more efficient, pragmatic, and cohesive. 🛡️
