🌟 China and Russia are stepping up their game in East Asia! Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on Thursday in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to discuss boosting cooperation in the region.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized the strong and mature relationship between China and Russia. The two sides expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation within multilateral mechanisms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS. Wang Yi affirmed China's support for Russia as it prepares to host the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, while Lavrov expressed Russia's support for China's upcoming presidency of the SCO.
Both nations also stressed the importance of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) centrality in regional cooperation, aiming to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in East Asia. ✨
