The Chinese Mainland Assures Measures Target Only ‘Marginal’ Separatists in Taiwan

The Chinese mainland has reassured that its newly released judicial guidelines are aimed solely at \"marginal\" separatist forces in Taiwan, not the general populace 😊. Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, addressed concerns on Friday about the measures being misrepresented by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

\"The DPP authorities have been twisting the truth, spreading rumors, and trying to stir up panic among our Taiwan compatriots,\" Chen said during a press conference. He emphasized that the vast majority of Taiwan residents have nothing to worry about, as the guidelines target only those involved in hardcore \"Taiwan independence\" activities.

According to Chen, the judicial document clearly specifies that the measures apply to criminal acts like organizing, plotting, or carrying out schemes for \"de jure independence,\" especially those seeking independence by relying on foreign support or by force.

\"It’s all about upholding the law and keeping things chill between both sides of the Taiwan Strait,\" Chen added. \"Anyone who doesn't seek to split the country and recognizes that we're all part of one big family will find no obstacles in engaging with the Chinese mainland.\"

For those who might have previously supported \"Taiwan independence\" but have since had a change of heart ❤️, Chen mentioned that partial or even full exemption from criminal liability could be granted under the law. \"As long as they stop separatist activities and take real steps to make things right, we're willing to give them a second chance,\" he said.

Chen's statements aim to ease tensions and counter the DPP's attempts to \"distort\" the purpose of the guidelines. The Chinese mainland continues to emphasize unity and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
