On Thursday, the Chinese Embassy in Germany expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the move by Germany's Federal Ministry of the Interior. The ministry announced plans to gradually remove Chinese telecom components, citing so-called security risks.
In a statement, the embassy slammed the decision as groundless. They highlighted that Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE have been operating in Germany for years, following all laws and regulations, and contributing positively to Germany's digital progress. 📈💻
\"The so-called 'network security risks' are just an excuse by certain countries to maintain technological hegemony and suppress competitors,\" the embassy said. They emphasized there's no evidence showing these companies pose any danger.
China also pointed out that they've welcomed European companies like Nokia and Ericsson in their own 5G rollout. They warned that Germany's move could damage mutual trust and affect future cooperation between China and the European Union. 🤝🌐
\"Whether Germany can handle this issue fairly and justly will be a touchstone for its own business environment,\" the statement added.
The embassy urged Germany and Europe not to demand fair competition while imposing discriminatory policies based on unfounded accusations. ✋❌
