In a move towards deeper understanding, China and the European Union recently sat down for candid discussions on human rights. The 39th session of the joint Human Rights Dialogue took place in the vibrant city of Chongqing on June 16, following a visit to southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region from June 13 to 15.
Chinese representatives didn't hold back, sharing comprehensive views on human rights and reiterating China's stance. Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Director General for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Service, in Beijing on June 17 to keep the conversation going.
Miao emphasized that the Communist Party of China is all about serving the people wholeheartedly. He highlighted that for China, developing and safeguarding the fundamental interests of its people is the greatest human right. 🚀
\"China is fully promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese modernization, which will further boost the level of human rights protection,\" Miao stated confidently.
He also pointed out that China opposes politicizing human rights issues and applying double standards. Instead, China believes in respecting each country's unique path to human rights development without imposing one-size-fits-all models. Miao expressed hope for strengthened communication between China and Europe to foster better mutual understanding. 🌐
The dialogue was co-chaired by Shen Bo, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and Pampaloni. Both sides delved into a wide range of human rights developments, aiming for in-depth discussions and meaningful exchanges.
This dialogue marks a step forward in bridging gaps and enhancing cooperation between China and the EU. Here's to more open conversations and mutual respect on the global stage! ✨
