Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a thumbs up 👍 to China's efforts in finding a political solution to the Ukraine crisis. In a written interview with Xinhua ahead of his state visit to China, Putin highlighted the positive impact of China's stance and expressed Russia's willingness to engage in dialogue.
Putin noted that China clearly understands the roots of the Ukraine crisis and its global impact. He praised the 12-point proposition titled \"China's Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis\" issued in February 2023, saying it reflects China's sincere desire to stabilize the situation.
He emphasized that the four principles for peaceful resolution recently proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping align perfectly with this document. \"We have never refused to negotiate,\" Putin said. \"We are seeking a comprehensive, sustainable, and just settlement of this conflict through peaceful means.\"
\"We are open to dialogue on Ukraine, but such negotiations must take into account the interests of all countries involved in the conflict, including ours,\" he added.
🤝 Strengthening Russia-China Ties
Beyond the Ukraine crisis, Putin highlighted the growing partnership between Russia and China. He noted that both countries are promoting prosperity through expanded, equal, and mutually beneficial cooperation in economic and cultural fields.
Trade between the two nations has doubled in the past five years! 📈 China has been Russia's largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years, and Russia now ranks fourth among China's trading partners. Impressively, over 90% of transactions between Russian and Chinese companies are settled in their national currencies.
Putin also mentioned the strategic cooperation in the energy sector, agricultural trade, and investment initiatives. \"I believe that Russian-Chinese economic ties have great prospects,\" he said, pointing to collaboration in high-tech, outer space, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.
🎭 Embracing Cultural Exchanges
On the cultural front, Putin was enthusiastic about the mutual interest in arts and traditions. With 2024 and 2025 designated as the Years of Culture between Russia and China, he highlighted that around 90,000 Russian students are learning Chinese! 📝 Chinese artists' tours and exhibitions are a hit in Russia, and the number of tourists between the two countries is booming.
\"I know that people in China are also keen to get acquainted with Russian literature, art, and traditions,\" Putin shared. He also revealed his personal appreciation for Chinese culture, saying, \"I'm always eager to discover China's unique and authentic traditions, especially during my visits.\"
With open arms towards dialogue and a focus on strengthening ties, Russia and China seem poised to write the next chapter of their partnership together. 🌍✌️
