Chinese Envoy Urges Houthis to Respect Red Sea Navigation 🌊

🌊 Hey amigos! At a recent UN Security Council meeting, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, Geng Shuang, urged Yemen's Houthi group to respect the rights of all countries' commercial vessels navigating the waters of the Red Sea and to immediately stop any harassment. 🚢

Geng emphasized the necessity of cooling down the situation in the Red Sea as soon as possible to help solve the Yemeni issue. The Red Sea is a vital route for global trade, and safe navigation is essential for everyone. 🌐

Yemen's civil war, which began in September 2014 when the Houthi group seized the capital Sana'a, has displaced over 15 percent of Yemenis. Millions are in urgent need of assistance with food and medical shortages. The UN describes the situation as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. 😢

Calling for a political settlement of the Yemen issue, Geng said all parties should focus on the well-being of the Yemeni people, remove interference, and work together to promote a comprehensive political process led by the Yemenis themselves. 🕊️

He called on the international community to step up its humanitarian assistance to Yemen and fulfill pledges as soon as possible, providing food, medicine, and other goods that the Yemeni people urgently need. 🙏

Noting that the situation in Yemen and the Red Sea is closely related to the Gaza conflict, the Chinese envoy urged the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions 2712, 2720, and 2728. He called on concerned countries to intensify their efforts to persuade and put pressure on Israel. ✊

It's time for the global community to come together and support peace and stability in the region. Let's hope for a brighter future for the people of Yemen! 🌟
