Chinese Peacekeepers in DRC Honored with UN Peace Medal 🎖️

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), smiles and applause filled the air as the 27th Chinese Peacekeeping Contingent was awarded the UN Peace Medal on Tuesday. 🎉

The ceremony unfolded at the Chinese contingent's engineering company camp on the outskirts of Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province. For over 21 years, these peacekeepers have been a symbol of dedication and professionalism, contributing to peace and development in the region.

\"Over the past 21 years, the Chinese peacekeepers have exemplified dedication and professionalism through their mission,\" said Bintou Keita, the top UN envoy in the DRC and head of MONUSCO. She expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for sending peacekeepers since 2003.

Keita added, \"The Chinese peacekeepers have helped defend peace and development in South Kivu and made significant contributions to MONUSCO's disengagement process.\" Her pride in the Chinese peacekeepers was evident as she highlighted their significant role.

From building bridges (both literally and figuratively!) to supporting local communities, the Chinese peacekeepers have been making a real difference. Their efforts have not only brought stability but also hope to the people of South Kivu. ✨

As the younger generation, let's take a moment to appreciate these heroes who are bridging cultures and fostering peace across continents. 🌍💖
