China Advocates for Peace Conference Recognized by Both Russia and Ukraine
✨ In a bid to bring harmony to the ongoing conflict, China has thrown its support behind convening an international peace conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine. 🇨🇳🤝🇷🇺🇺🇦
Li Hui, the special representative of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs, announced on Friday in Beijing that China is eager to see all parties come together on equal footing to discuss and find fair solutions for peace. 🕊️
Li just wrapped up his second round of shuttle diplomacy—a 10-day journey starting on March 2—that took him to Russia, the European Union headquarters in Brussels, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and France. 🌍✈️
At a press briefing attended by diplomats from 78 countries (yes, 78! 🌐), including Russia and Ukraine, Li shared that he engaged in deep conversations with all parties about achieving an early ceasefire and promoting a political settlement to the crisis.
\"All parties appreciate China's shuttle mediation efforts and expect China to play a greater constructive role,\" Li said.
He emphasized that as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a common friend to both Russia and Ukraine, China is uniquely positioned to mediate and help build consensus. 💪
Li noted that both Russia and Ukraine expressed their appreciation for China's efforts:
- Russia appreciates China's shuttle diplomacy and believes the crisis will ultimately be resolved through negotiation.
- Ukraine refuted claims that \"China deliberately alienates Ukraine\" and emphasized that China-Ukraine relations remain strong, appreciating China's balanced stance on the crisis.
While acknowledging that achieving a ceasefire or ending the conflict remains challenging, Li is optimistic about the growing consensus for peace talks. 🌱
\"China is ready to continue to play its unique role and contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to promote a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis,\" he affirmed.
This marks Li's second diplomatic tour aimed at finding a peaceful resolution, following his first visit last May to Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany, Brussels, and Russia.
