Britain Faces the Fury of Storm Bert 🌪️
This weekend, Storm Bert wreaked havoc across Britain, bringing with it strong winds and torrential rains that led to severe flooding and chaos in many regions. Wales, in particular, bore the brunt of the storm's wrath.
Wales Underwater 🌊
In the county of Rhondda Cynon Taf in south Wales, between 200 to 300 homes and buildings were flooded. Local authorities declared a \"major incident\" as residents grappled with the devastating impacts. \"It's been absolutely heartbreaking,\" a local councillor shared. \"Our community is underwater.\"
Tragic Losses 💔
Amidst the chaos, a body was discovered near the river Conwy. Welsh police reported that search operations were underway after a 75-year-old man went missing on Saturday while walking his dog. The victim has yet to be officially identified.
Elsewhere, at least three fatalities were reported on Britain’s roads on Saturday. While these incidents could not be immediately linked to the extreme weather, one tragic case involved a 60-year-old victim in Hampshire who was killed when a tree branch fell on his car.
Nationwide Alerts ⚠️
With around 100 flood alerts in place across the country, authorities are urging citizens to stay safe and keep informed. Emergency services have been working tirelessly to respond to calls and assist those affected.
