Rome and Milan Swelter: Italy’s Hottest Year in 50 Years 🌡️

🔥 Rome and Milan are turning up the heat! 🔥

Italy's iconic cities, Rome and Milan, have just experienced their hottest weather in over half a century, according to new data from the statistics agency Istat released on Tuesday. 📈

The average temperature in Italy's regional capitals in 2022 soared to 16.6°C, which is a whopping 1.7°C above the \"climate normal\" based on data from 1981-2010. 🌡️

But that's not all – Rome and Milan had it even hotter! These bustling metropolises saw temperature spikes of 2.7°C and 2.5°C above normal, respectively. 😰

Since 1997, temperatures have consistently surpassed the climate normal every year except 2005 and 2010. And 2022 takes the cake as the hottest year yet! 🥵

To add to the concerns, 2022 was also the second driest year for Italy's regional capitals since 1971, with average rainfall hitting just 576 millimeters. Only 2007 was drier. ☔️🚫

🌍 Climate Change is Real and It's Here 🌍

These sizzling stats highlight the growing impact of climate change on Italy. Droughts are becoming more severe, especially in the south. Sicily, for instance, is grappling with serious water shortages this year. 💧

Remember, Europe's highest temperature ever recorded was a scorching 48.8°C in Sicily back in 2021. 🔥

As global temperatures climb, it's clear that action is needed to cool things down and protect our planet. 🌿

Stay cool and stay informed, amigos! ✌️
