🌍 Big news from the United Nations! On Friday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Indonesia's very own Retno L.P. Marsudi as his special envoy on water. 💧
Why is this a big deal? Well, water is life, and ensuring everyone has access to clean water is a global mission! 🚰 Retno Marsudi, who served as Indonesia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2014, will step into this vital role starting November 1.
Marsudi's mission is to rally partnerships and push forward the water agenda, taking action on the outcomes of the UN 2023 Water Conference. She'll be gearing up for the UN 2026 Water Conference, making waves 🌊 in global water processes.
She'll advocate for stronger collaborations at all levels to secure a water-secure future for all of us. Think of her as the global ambassador for H2O! 💦 She'll work closely with UN-Water and its members to make sure we're all on track to hit those Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 6, which is all about clean water and sanitation.
Retno Marsudi is set to represent the UN chief in global water discussions, and we couldn't be more excited to see the positive ripples she’ll create! 🌐
