Brace yourselves, folks! 🌧️ Southern China's Guangdong Province is currently facing some serious downpours, and it's making quite a splash. Over 86,000 people have been evacuated as a precautionary measure after heavy rain swept through the region on Wednesday.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., a whopping 65 townships and sub-districts in Guangdong were drenched in torrential rain. To give you an idea of how wild it got, some areas saw rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters! The city of Dongguan took the hardest hit, recording an astonishing 247.9 millimeters of rain in just one sub-district. That's like Mother Nature taking a super-soaker to the extreme! 💦
Due to the relentless rain, travel plans have taken a hit. By 11 a.m., services were suspended for several trains on the railway lines connecting the megacities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as the line linking Guangzhou and Shantou. So if you're planning to hop on a train, better check those schedules! 🚂
Air travel wasn't spared either. As of 8:38 p.m., 55 flights at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport were delayed over an hour. Looks like the rain is putting a damper on everyone's travel vibes. ✈️😕
But don't fret just yet! According to the Guangdong meteorological observatory, the intensity of the rainfall is expected to ease up between Thursday and Friday. Fingers crossed for sunnier skies ahead! ☀️
Stay safe out there, and don't forget your umbrellas! ☂️
