Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! 🌂 China's National Meteorological Center just issued its first red alert of the year for a typhoon—Typhoon Gaemi is on its way! 🌪️
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the red alert, which is the highest level, was announced for Typhoon Gaemi. This mighty storm is expected to make landfall along the coast of central or northern Taiwan on Wednesday night. After crossing the island, it's projected to hit between Thursday afternoon and midnight along the coast between Fuding and Jinjiang cities in Fujian province, east China, according to Fujian's meteorological authorities.
With Gaemi approaching, Fujian's provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters ramped up the emergency response level for typhoons from Level III to Level II—the second-highest level! They've also activated a Level IV emergency response for rainstorms. 🌧️
Over the next three days, heavy rain is expected to pour over many parts of Fujian. The central and northern coastal areas could see accumulated rainfall up to 350 millimeters, and some spots might even exceed 600 millimeters! That's a whole lot of water! 😱
Residents are gearing up for the storm, securing their homes and stocking up on essentials. Authorities are urging everyone to stay safe and take necessary precautions. If you're in the affected areas, make sure to follow updates from local officials and stay indoors when the typhoon hits.
Stay safe out there, amigos! 🤞 Let's hope Gaemi passes without causing too much trouble. Don't forget to check in on friends and family in the area! ❤️
