⛈️ Heavy Rains in NW China’s Gansu Affect Over 13,000 People

Over 13,000 people in Longnan City, northwest China's Gansu Province, have been affected by heavy rains since Monday evening.

🌧️ Torrential downpours of up to 300 millimeters have hit the region, causing floods, landslides, and mudslides that have disrupted daily life. More than 5,600 residents have been evacuated to safety as of early Wednesday morning, according to local authorities.

The intense rainfall has led to the shutdown of 14 highways 🚗✖️, making travel challenging and isolating some communities. So far, efforts have restored service to four of these roads, and work continues tirelessly to reopen the rest.

Utility services have also been impacted, with damages to residential houses and farmlands 🌾🏠. Thirteen out of 24 affected 10-kilovolt power lines have been restored, bringing much-needed electricity back to many households.

Local authorities have declared a Level III emergency response—the third-highest level—to address the flooding. Teams are on 24-hour standby, doing everything they can to reduce the losses caused by this natural disaster.

💪 The community spirit is strong, and everyone is pitching in to help their neighbors. It's heartwarming to see people come together in tough times!
