In a heartbreaking turn of events, a father and his daughter were found dead in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, amid soaring temperatures 🌡️ last Friday.
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office reported that they were alerted by the National Park Service at 5:45 p.m. about a deceased hiker in the Upheaval Dome area. Just 15 minutes later, they were notified of a second deceased hiker in the same vicinity.
The pair had become lost while hiking a trail in the remote northwest portion of San Juan County. According to park officials, they had sent emergency 911 texts reporting that they were lost and out of water 💧.
Due to the rugged terrain and the remoteness of the area, the San Juan County Sheriff's Office coordinated with the Department of Public Safety's helicopter team to recover the bodies early Saturday morning.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder to all adventurers to stay prepared and vigilant when exploring the great outdoors 🌲. With high temperatures affecting many regions, it's crucial to carry enough water and be aware of your limits.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victims during this difficult time ❤️.
