Great news for nature lovers! 🌿 The golden snub-nosed monkeys, one of China's rarest primates, are making a comeback in the Shennongjia Forestry District of central China's Hubei Province.
Thanks to dedicated habitat protection efforts, the population of these adorable monkeys has increased to 1,618—an addition of 147 monkeys since the last survey five years ago, according to the district administration's fourth survey results.
As the easternmost home of these monkeys, Shennongjia has seen a remarkable recovery. Back in 1990, there were just 501 golden snub-nosed monkeys living in an area of 164 square kilometers. Fast forward to now, and not only has their number grown, but their habitat has expanded too!
In 2005, their population grew to 1,282 within 189 square kilometers, and by 2019, there were 1,471 monkeys in 354 square kilometers. This upward trend is a testament to the successful conservation efforts in the region. 🌟
These golden monkeys are not just a symbol of China's rich biodiversity but also a sign that dedicated conservation can make a real difference. It's a win for the monkeys and a win for our planet! 🌍❤️
