Feeling the Sting: Climate Change Hits North Macedonia’s Beekeepers 🐝🔥

🐝🔥 Beekeeping just got a lot hotter in North Macedonia, and not in a good way! Meet Magda Miloseska, a seasoned beekeeper who's feeling the sting of climate change.

\"These days, we have to fight the climate conditions,\" Magda says. \"Then there are the diseases that have entered our environment.\"

For over 20 years, Magda has been producing honey in the picturesque village of Stence, nestled among majestic mountains and bathed in summer sunshine. Sounds idyllic, right?

But lately, things are heating up—literally! June temperatures soared above 30°C, about 3 degrees higher than usual. 😓 And it's not just the heat making beekeepers sweat.

\"Older beekeepers say they used to get 30 to 50 kilograms of honey from one beehive,\" Magda recalls. \"Now, with these climate conditions, that has decreased substantially.\"

Less honey means higher prices. Consumers are also feeling the burn as honey prices in North Macedonia have skyrocketed by over 50% compared to three years ago. 💸

Climate change isn't just a buzzword; it's affecting livelihoods and traditions. As temperatures rise and bee populations decline, the future of honey production is uncertain. 🐝❓

But Magda and other beekeepers aren't giving up. They're adapting and fighting to keep the sweet tradition alive. After all, what's life without a little honey? 🍯✨

It's a bittersweet tale of bees, climate, and resilience. Let's hope the buzz returns to North Macedonia's beehives soon! 🌍❤️
