🔥 Scorching Heat at Hajj Claims 600+ Egyptian Lives

The Hajj pilgrimage, one of the most significant events for Muslims worldwide, turned tragic as over 600 Egyptians lost their lives due to extreme heat in Mecca. 🕋☀️

An Arab diplomat told AFP news agency on Wednesday that the searing temperatures, reaching a staggering 51.8°C (125.2°F) on Monday, were the cause of these deaths. \"All of the (newly confirmed) deaths were because of the heat as well,\" the diplomat said, noting the previous death toll stood at 323.

This year's Hajj saw around 1.8 million pilgrims from various nations converge on Islam's holiest city during an unexpected heatwave. The intense conditions proved challenging for many, especially the elderly and those with health issues.

The tragedy wasn't confined to Egypt. Earlier on Wednesday, a diplomat in Saudi Arabia confirmed to AFP that 68 Indian nationals were among the deceased. Russia's TASS agency reported four Russian deaths, while Tunisia's Foreign Ministry stated at least 35 Tunisians died during the pilgrimage.

Such a significant loss of life has sent shockwaves through the global Muslim community. The Hajj, a journey meant for spiritual reflection and unity, has been overshadowed by this heartbreaking event. 💔

Officials are urging future pilgrims to take precautions against extreme weather conditions. Hydration, shade, and medical check-ups are becoming essential parts of the preparation for this sacred journey.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives during this year's Hajj. May they find peace and comfort during this difficult time. 🙏
