Over the weekend, torrential rains have forced a massive evacuation of 36,000 people in Fujian Province. The provincial flood control office reported on Sunday that days of relentless downpours have caused havoc across the region.
The province has declared an emergency response as the rainstorms continue to batter the area. By 8 p.m. on Saturday, the latest deluge had impacted 179,800 residents and damaged 12,350 hectares of crops. The direct economic loss? A staggering 1.61 billion yuan (that's about $225 million)! 💰
Wuping County in Longyan City is among the hardest hit. As of 10 a.m. on Monday, four people are confirmed dead, and two remain missing after multiple landslides struck the county. The devastation doesn't stop there—378 houses collapsed, and 880 hectares of crops were ruined.
