Historic Floods in Southern Brazil Leave 175 Dead and Over 2 Million Affected 🌊
Southern Brazil is grappling with one of the most devastating floods in its history. As of the latest reports from Rio Grande do Sul's civil defense agency, the death toll has tragically risen to 175. 😔
Since April 29, relentless rains have unleashed floods that have impacted over 2.3 million people—that's around 20% of the state's population! 😱 More than 800 individuals have been injured, and 38 are still missing, leaving families in anguish.
Over 423,400 people have been forced to leave their homes, with more than 18,800 currently living in temporary shelters. The scale of this disaster is staggering: over two-thirds of the nearly 500 cities in the state are still under the flood's impact. 🏚️
And it's not over yet. The civil defense agency warns that heavy rainfall is expected to hit the state again from June 14 to 17. ☔ Communities are bracing themselves for more challenges ahead.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this calamity. 💔 Let's keep them in our thoughts and support any way we can.
