Feeling the heat, Mexico City? 🔥
This Saturday, Mexico City's thermometers shattered records, hitting an all-time high of 34.7°C. 🥵 The scorching temperature was recorded at the Tacubaya observatory, marking the hottest day since records began, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Believe it or not, the previous record was just the day before, at 34.4°C. Talk about back-to-back heat! ☀️
But it's not all sunshine and selfies. The intense heat wave has taken a serious toll across Mexico. Since March, there have been 48 heat-related deaths, with more than 950 people experiencing health issues due to the sizzling temperatures, as reported by the health ministry up to May 21.
The coastal state of Veracruz has been hit hardest, recording 14 deaths. Close behind are Tabasco, San Luis Potosi, and Tamaulipas, each with eight fatalities. Our thoughts are with those affected. 🙏
Stay safe out there, amigos! Remember to hydrate, seek shade, and look out for one another during this extreme heat. 💧🌴
