Netherlands to Ban Loud Night Flights at Schiphol Airport by 2025

Hey night owls 🦉! Big news from the Netherlands 🇳🇱: by 2025, those super loud night flights at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport are getting the boot 🚫✈️! The Dutch government wants to give everyone a better night's sleep 😴 by reducing noise pollution.

Infrastructure Minister Mark Harbers announced plans to cut down night flights from 32,000 to 27,000 starting in 2025. Plus, the loudest planes, like the Boeing 747-400, will be grounded between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. 🕚➡️🕖. Airlines are being encouraged to switch to quieter aircraft to keep things peaceful.

And that's not all! The government is even considering a full or partial night closure of Schiphol Airport from November 2026. Talk about dreaming big! 🌠

Schiphol has also agreed to hike up fees for noisy planes to nudge airlines toward quieter options. It's all part of a move to reduce noise and make the skies friendlier for everyone below 🌍.

This isn't the first time the Netherlands has tried to turn down the volume. Last year, they aimed to limit flights to around 450,000—about 10% below 2019 levels. But after some pushback, they adjusted the number to 483,000 flights for this year. Now, they're back with new plans to keep the peace—and the quiet! ✨
