Texas Floods Turn Deadly: Child Lost, Hundreds Rescued

🌧️ Texas is soaking wet, amigos! Over the weekend, storms flooded parts of the Lone Star State, leading to hundreds of dramatic rescues in the Houston area. But amidst the chaos, there's heartbreaking news: a 5-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters near Fort Worth.

In Houston, it's been raining cats and dogs! 🐱🐶 Some areas near Lake Livingston got a whopping 58 centimeters of rain over the last week. That's like 23 inches! The city's northeast regions weren't spared either, with up to 43 centimeters pouring down. The National Weather Service's Jimmy Fowler said that Sunday's showers added more to the already overflowing rivers.

\"With the rainfall that fell overnight plus this morning it just kind of prolonged the river flooding that we were experiencing,\" Fowler explained. But there's a silver lining—he expects the rain to taper off in the evening, giving Texans a much-needed break. ☀️

Up north in Johnson County, near Fort Worth, the storms turned deadly. Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle got stuck in swift-moving waters. A child and two adults tried to reach dry ground, but the waters were too strong. The adults were rescued hours later, but sadly, the child was found deceased. 😢

The storms didn't hold back, dumping up to 23 centimeters of rain in just a few hours from central Texas to Dallas-Fort Worth. Roads were washed out, and communities were left grappling with the aftermath.

Stay safe out there, Texas! And remember, if you see floodwaters, it's best to turn around—don't drown! 🚗💧
