Heads up, Sydney-siders! 🏙️ The asbestos saga continues as Australian authorities have discovered the toxic material in more places around the city.
Since January, when asbestos was first found in a playground built over an underground road interchange, the New South Wales government's Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has been on a mission to uncover and remove asbestos from public areas.
And the findings are alarming! 😬 From housing estates to public schools, parks, and even construction sites in Sydney's south-west, 32 sites have tested positive for bonded asbestos.
The University of Sydney might be next on the list, with tests scheduled for this weekend. 🎓 Fingers crossed it's all clear!
But wait, there's more! EPA head Tony Chappel assures us that Taylor Swift's concert next weekend is still a go. 🎤✨ Despite asbestos concerns nearby, he said, \"We can make sure that site is in the clear for the Taylor Swift event.\" Shake it off, asbestos!
Other contaminated sites include transport projects, warehouses, hospitals, and a primary school. Since January 10, almost 300 samples have been taken citywide, with 10% testing positive. 😲
Stay safe out there, keep an eye out for updates, and let's hope this issue gets wrapped up soon! 💪
