Guess who's back in town? Over 60,000 birds have chosen the Hengshui Lake National Nature Reserve in north China's Hebei Province as their winter getaway! 🐦❄️ How cool is that?
In the recent 2023-2024 water bird monitoring operations, the reserve's staff spotted an impressive 70 different bird species. According to Zhang Yuguang, a representative from the reserve, this includes some super rare ones like the Baer's pochards and great bustards. The great bustards are especially special—they haven't been seen here since 2021! 🎉
Even with the winter being colder than usual, these feathered friends are loving their home away from home. An Chunlin, an expert with the Hebei provincial forestry and grassland bureau, said the birds are thriving thanks to the reserve's awesome habitat and abundant food. 🍃🍔
\"The survey results show how much we've improved the ecological environment here,\" An mentioned. And honestly, 60,000 birds can't be wrong! 😉
The Hengshui Lake is not just any lake. Located in Hengshui City, it's the largest single water surface on the North China Plain. It boasts a complete wetland ecosystem with swamps, waters, mudflats, meadows, and woodlands. Talk about a bird paradise! 🏞️🌿
It's also a VIP stopover on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway for migratory birds. So far, the dedicated staff have recorded 334 bird species in total. That's a lot of birdwatching! 🔭🌏
So next time you're thinking of a cool place to explore, maybe consider following the birds to Hengshui Lake. Who knows, you might just catch a glimpse of these incredible species! 🦆🦅
