Co-hosted by China Media Group and the Peoples Government of Hainan Province, this years fest runs through December 9 and celebrates global storytelling under the theme “From Oceans to the Infinite”.
Opening night was a feast for the senses, blending Hainans rich intangible cultural heritage with silver-screen magic. Li ethnic folk songs and Danzhou diaosheng (a lively local folk music genre) met classic film moments and global screen memories. Its a heartfelt nod to a century of cinema, all set against Hainans open, inclusive island vibe. 🏝️🎶
The numbers are staggering: 4,564 submissions from 119 countries and regions—a new high for the festival! Filmmakers and fans can look forward to screenings, panels, and workshops featuring every genre on the reel.
Jury members for the coveted Golden Coconut Awards include 13 renowned directors, producers, and critics from around the world. Leading the panel is Italian film expert Marco Müller, bringing decades of festival experience to the judging table.
