Ancient Qiuci Tombs Come to Life with Digital Magic

In 2007, while constructing an underground pass in Kucha, Xinjiang, an unexpected discovery took place. A tomb complex dating back to the Wei and Jin dynasties (A.D. 220-420) was unearthed, revealing exquisitely preserved funerary objects. This incredible find has provided researchers with invaluable physical evidence to further explore the history of the Western Regions.

Kucha, known in ancient times as Qiuci, was one of the 36 states in the ancient Western Regions and a key hub along the Silk Road. It served as a dynamic crossroads where Eastern and Western cultures met and mingled, giving rise to enchanting Buddhist art, vibrant music, and intricate murals that continue to captivate history enthusiasts today.

Driven by a passion for history and innovation, Ma Lili, Director of the Qiuci Wei and Jin Ancient Tomb Site Museum, and her team decided to embrace digital technology to revive these time-honored relics. Their interactive exhibitions allow visitors to experience the tombs as they once were, breathing new life into the ancient Qiuci culture. This blend of digital tech and rich heritage not only makes history accessible but also sparks the imagination of young, digitally savvy explorers. 🌟🔍
