As part of the "Journey to Chinese Civilization: Henan" cultural program, 27 journalists from Latin American and Caribbean countries joined CGTN's reporting team to dive into Henan Province's rich heritage. Their adventure reached a high point at the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved into majestic limestone cliffs.
Originating in 493 AD and expanded over more than four centuries, the grottoes now feature over 2,300 caves and niches, 2,800 inscriptions, more than 70 pagodas, and an astonishing 110,000 statues. The scale and exquisite artistry have captured the hearts of visitors, bringing centuries of history vibrantly to life.
Journalist Quinn St. Juste from Barbados Today noted that visitors can almost "sense the eyes of history" during their visit—a testament to the deep cultural and spiritual legacy of ancient Chinese civilization. This remarkable journey not only celebrates artistic mastery but also inspires today’s generation to explore the links between past brilliance and modern creativity. 🚀✨
