Dragon Boat Festival Celebrated at Iowa Home of Sarah Lande

Ever heard of the Dragon Boat Festival? 🐉🚣‍♂️ Well, it just made waves in the heartland of America! On June 7th, Sarah Lande, an Iowa resident and friend of China, opened her home to celebrate this vibrant Chinese festival, bringing together friends from both China and the United States.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional event that falls on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. It's a time filled with colorful dragon boat races, delicious food like sticky rice dumplings (zongzi), and rich cultural traditions.

Representatives from China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Consulate-General in Chicago joined the festivities at Sarah's place. Together, they shared stories, indulged in authentic Chinese cuisine, and celebrated a tradition that's over 2,000 years old!

In a heartfelt letter, Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, expressed his appreciation to Sarah: \"The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. Different forms of activities are held around the world to celebrate the event, which helps people around the world experience the charm of Chinese culture.\"

Shen also highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, noting that CMG is eager to work with Sarah and other American friends to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and the United States. 🤝❤️

Events like these show how traditions can cross oceans and bring people together. Who knew that the beats of ancient Chinese drums could echo so beautifully in Iowa? Maybe next year, we'll see dragon boat races on the Mississippi River! 🌊🐲
