Since 4:51 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, a wildfire has been raging in Bingzhongluo Village, Jiasheng Township, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the Chinese mainland. Over the weekend, the blaze has tested the skills of firefighting teams.
Troops of 326 rescuers from forestry, grassland, and firefighting departments have been on the front lines. By 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, the fire line stretched around 600 meters, affecting roughly 600 mu (40 hectares) of land.
Officials say the blaze is burning next to steep cliffs and rugged terrain, complicating containment efforts. The area is remote, with no residential zones or critical infrastructure nearby.
As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, operations to combat the fire are still underway. So far, no casualties have been reported.
